How is High Blood Pressure and Moringa connected?

Beloved, we are living in times when some health challenges are increasing in prevalence. But can I ask you: Are you or anyone you know diagnosed with high blood pressure? Have you been looking for alternative ways to manage it? Did you want to know if taking moringa will help? Read on to see how...
To start with, let us understand how high blood pressure develops in the human body. By the way, the medical term for high blood pressure is Hypertension(HTN)

What is High Blood Pressure?
As blood circulates in your body, usually flowing through the arteries,
it exerts pressure on the walls of the arteries. In the course of day's activities, the blood pressure rises and falls naturally. But when the blood pressure stays high for a long time, it can cause a health challenges- high blood pressure. High blood pressure may lead to heart disease and stroke-leading causes of death worldwide!

How do you know if you are at risk?
Anyone can develop high blood pressure, even children... Several factors are considered as risk factors. These include age, sex and race which may be beyond your control. You can reduce your risk by eating healthy diet, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding smoking and leading a physically active lifestyle by way of exercising. These are what I call the Dos and Don'ts of high blood pressure.

So, how do I know if I have(not) developed High Blood Pressure? Lest I forget, there is pregnancy induced high blood pressure.
What are the signs and symptoms of High Blood Pressure?
Answer: It has got no signs and symptoms! But how do I know if I have it or not? Always check with your Doctor to run routine check up. And do not live in fear either. You will not develop high blood pressure easily if you stick close enough to the Dos plus don'ts above and by faith! Always check your blood pressure yourself too.

How is high blood pressure measured?
Your doctor measures your blood pressure by wrapping an inflatable cuff with a pressure gauge around your arm to squeeze the blood vessels. Then he or she listens to your pulse with a stethoscope while releasing air from the cuff. The gauge measures the pressure in the blood vessels when the heart beats (systolic) and when it rests (diastolic). You can measure yourself too, using a digital blood pressure machine.

What Blood Pressure readings are healthy?
Averagely the healthy systolic/diastolic readings should be 120/80(read 120 over 80)
To determine whether your blood pressure is normal, your doctor examines your systolic and diastolic pressures, which the gauge measures in millimeters of mercury (abbreviated as mmHg).

Normal ===>                                 Systolic: Less than 120 mmHg
                                                        Diastolic: Less than 80 mmHg
At risk (prehypertension)===>   Systolic: 120–139 mmHg
                                                       Diastolic: 80–89 mmHg

High^  ===>                                  Systolic: 140 mmHg or higher
                                                        Diastolic: 90 mmHg or higher

How then is Moringa connected to High Blood pressure?
Moringa oleifera is a miracle plant with the capacity to maintain healthy blood pressure in humans when consumed appropriately.

But what makes moringa good for high blood pressure?
WebMd has information about moringa oleifera as it relates to high blood pressure. According to a research article, Role of natural herbs in the treatment of hypertension, on Pubmed, "...In anesthetized rats, the crude extract of the leaves of M. oleifera caused a fall in systolic, diastolic, and mean BP in a dose-dependent manner. The antihypertensive effect was brief, returning to normal within two minutes..."

Moringa is a powerhouse of nutrients necessary for a Healthy Blood Pressure...

The important nutrients for high blood pressure include Potassium, Vitamin E, Calcium, Magnesium and  Zinc.  Moringa oleifera boasts of all these nutrients and in high amounts too...

The high potassium tends to lower the sodium content. Potassium is thought to act by increasing sodium excretion in the urine, which helps blood vessels dilate, and changing the interactions of hormones that affect blood pressure.

Also, diet high in magnesium benefits those with hypertension, most likely by contributing to the relaxation of the smooth muscles of the blood vessels. Moringa also contains magnesium along with Zinc and Vitamin E which takes part in decreasing the blood pressure along with other nutrients

Similarly, Moringa oleifera contains Vitamin C helps support the body’s production of nitric oxide, which is critical to normal functioning of blood vessels. The better your blood vessels work, the lower your risk of hypertension.
